You May Be Living With Untreated Hearing Loss

Most people don't realize they have hearing loss because it happens gradually. Check if any of these sound familiar.

Struggling in Noisy Places

Conversations at restaurants, family gatherings, or parties feel exhausting because you're constantly straining to make out words.

Always Asking People to Repeat Themselves

Friends and family often have to repeat what they've said — and you feel embarrassed or frustrated about it.

Turning the Volume Way Up

You need the TV or phone louder than everyone else around you just to follow along with what's being said.

Ringing, Buzzing, or Hissing in Your Ears

Tinnitus — persistent sounds no one else can hear — can be a sign of underlying hearing damage that needs attention.

Withdrawing from Social Situations

It's easier to stay home than to struggle through conversations, leaving you isolated from people and activities you love.

Dizziness or Balance Problems

Your inner ear controls both hearing and balance — so unexplained dizziness or vertigo can be linked to hearing health.

Getting Your Hearing Checked Changes Everything

Hearing loss is far more than an inconvenience. Addressing it early can protect your brain, your relationships, and your quality of life.

01

Protect Your Brain Health

Research consistently links untreated hearing loss to accelerated cognitive decline. The longer it goes unaddressed, the harder the brain works to process sound — leaving less capacity for memory and thinking.

Untreated hearing loss is the #1 modifiable risk factor for dementia — Lancet Commission
02

Reconnect with Loved Ones

Missing conversations at dinner, mishearing grandchildren, or withdrawing from family gatherings takes a quiet but serious toll on relationships. Better hearing means staying genuinely present.

Most patients report improved relationships as the #1 benefit of treatment
03

Reduce Depression & Anxiety

Social isolation from hearing loss is a known driver of depression and anxiety. Treating your hearing is one of the most effective interventions for your overall emotional wellbeing.

Hearing aid users report significantly lower rates of depression and loneliness
04

Catch It Early — While Treatment Works Best

Hearing loss is often gradual. The sooner you address it, the more options you have and the better the outcomes. Early intervention preserves your brain's ability to process sound.

People wait an average of 7 years before seeking help — don't be one of them
05

Prevent Falls & Stay Safe

Your inner ear plays a key role in balance. Untreated hearing loss is associated with a significantly higher risk of falls in older adults — something easily addressed with proper care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first visit — answered straight from our team.

How long does a hearing appointment take?
Please allow 60 to 90 minutes for your appointment. This gives our team enough time to review your health history, examine your ears, and complete any necessary hearing tests without rushing.
What actually happens during a hearing test?
We start by reviewing your health history and checking your ears for wax or infection. Then we run a series of painless tests — an audiometric test for tones and word recognition, tympanometry to assess middle ear function, and OAE testing for inner ear health. You'll receive a full audiogram at the end.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed. You can call us directly at 307-337-9552 or fill out the form on this page to request an appointment. We're happy to see new patients without a physician referral.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — we have formal participation agreements with most insurance plans and will file your claim on your behalf as a courtesy. We also accept cash, check, and most major credit cards. Flexible payment plans including CareCredit are available — call us to discuss your options.
How will I know if I need a hearing aid?
After your hearing test, you'll receive an audiogram — a detailed chart of your hearing ability across different frequencies. Our audiologists will walk you through your results and only recommend a hearing aid if it's clinically appropriate. Think of it like a prescription for glasses — tailored specifically to your hearing profile.
How often should I get my hearing tested?
At least once a year is recommended. Because hearing loss is gradual, annual screenings help catch changes early — when treatment is most effective. They can also detect early signs of other health issues you might not be aware of yet.
